Job Summary:

The Lead Chimney Sweep will perform a wide range of physical labor tasks in support of workers leading inspection, drafting customer sales quotes and manage the equipment scope needed for contracted work.

Supervisory Responsibil it ies :

• Chimney Sweep Apprentice

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Clean chimneys and generate inspection reports.
• Identify defects, document and record comments around issues; draft initial quote for office to review; makes appropriate repair recommendations directly to the customer.
• Accurately scopes and prices standard opportunities, both residential and commercial
• Lead a reline effort, including installing code-correct connectors and runs, ensuring correct clearance to combustibles and other safety hazards.
• Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.
• Cleans jobsite at the end of the day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of and materials or equipment are properly stored. Ensures there is no damage to the property site while work is performed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Properly identify chimney type
• Proven ability to clean commercial stoves and appliance vents; clean and reline a dryer vent
• Proven ability to lay a crown
• Ability to use a smartphone for such activities as clocking in, taking photos at the job site, and making necessary phone calls
• Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.
• Ability to work with a variety of personalities.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed to count and take inventory.
• Ability to successfully pass a required physical, drug test and background check.

Required Education and Experience:

• Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a truck within

MD, D.C., and VA

• CSIA or Certified Chimney Professional certification in active and current status

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly lift and adjust loads of 50-75 lbs in different directions, such as for loading and unloading materials
• Be able to report to work beginning as early as 7:00 AM
• Work at heights for extended periods of time
• Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, while, at times carrying loads.
• Move about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
• Communicate with others to effectively exchange information.
• Operate machinery and/or power tools.
• Operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments all year round for extended periods
• Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
• Must be able to work some Saturdays, at night, and overtime when needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
